Do you recommend any vacuum cleaner brands/products in particular?
It amazes me how few vacuum cleaners have HEPA 13 and also how difficult it is to find the air watt specs of the vast majority of vacuum cleaners.
HEPA 13 ones I've found so far - Hoover upright 300, numatic Henry but you can only buy a Hepa 13 filter for the 12 inch version, Aeg is another, Nilfisk and Vacmaster.
This is the best I've found in terms of both affordability and specifications that are suitable for proper deep cleaning - 200 AW and HEPA 13 - https://www.cleva-uk.com/products/vacmaster-d8-vacuum-cleaner (annoyingly the upright ones are only 130 AW)
I’m typing this on the go, so I will give a more detailed answer later. The most important thing in a wireless vacuum is the battery. The batteries die quickly, and then you lose power/strength when you vacuum. When I use my Dyson v8, it only lasts 5 minutes at 150 air watts. But that strength is needed for thicker carpets/rugs. The Dyson came with an excellent warranty that allowed me to exchange the battery within 2 years as it wouldn’t last more than a minute. If I got a new vacuum today, I would get sharp, lg, or Samsung. I just trust these brands but really don’t know much about the consumerism. Wireless vacuums are nice but I do wonder if it’s worth it. A plug-in one may be worth it financially but obviously more annoying to use. With wireless, you should plan to buy the 2nd battery in advance, so I would look at replacement costs ahead of time.
Yeah that's the issue with cordless big name brand ones, they look and perform great but if you want to do more than one room at 150 AW then you're going to need 1-2 extra batteries which is a bit of a pain tbh. I have a cheap HEPA 11 cordless VC that is great for picking up crumbs and what not on the hard floors, but obviously for deep cleaning I need a whole different animal. Practically every room in the house is medium pile carpet, my bosch hepa 12 has just conked out so its time to get a new workhorse. Corded ones are a bit annoying but they're much much cheaper for what you get, and as long as you get one with a flexible hose and 8m+ long cord it's not too bad. Anyway, time will tell ha.
How frequently do you suggest doing the carpets? Once or twice a week?
