How To Use, Wear, & Maintain A Light Therapy Mask
Last Updated 01/18/2023. I continually update it over time.
On occasion, exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells. This allows light therapy to work better. Penetrate deeper.
Rinse your face with just water, if a nephew is around. Splash him with water too.
Make sure your device is fully charged if it has a battery. Once the device is below 50%, you get less photons.
Masks come in different wavelengths. The most common are red, green, blue, yellow, and near red. I should notate, masks often use marketing gimmicks to advertise more wavelengths than the device really has. If you have questions about your mask, please let me know in the comments!
If you’re doing one wavelength at a time, always start with the lowest wavelength on the color spectrum.
From left to right. So with most masks, you would start off with Blue.
Now if you like, you can do multiple wavelengths at the same time. There is some published science on this. It’s your choice if you want to do individual wavelengths or two or three at the same time. I have no opinion on using multiple wavelengths at the same time for the time being. I myself just started to use multiple wavelengths at the same time to study its effects.
Again as a reminder, many light therapy masks use false wavelengths. For example in some masks, if you used both red & green at the same time, the mask output color will appear to be yellow. But it’s not actually yellow. You won’t be getting the therapeutic effects of the yellow wavelength but rather red & green combined.
Further Information:
Example Usage
Blue Light Therapy for 15 minutes followed by Red Light Therapy for 15 minutes daily. This is just an example. I do feel that at least 15 minutes per wavelength is needed to get anything worthy from the devices. No more than 30 minutes per wavelength.
Another example usage is to use blue, red, & green light all at the same time. Daily in the morning for 20 minutes.
For notable skin improvements, give it time! Take photos before you start, then again weekly. You should notice improvements within possibly days/weeks.
The Lips
Most masks I’ve seen don’t cover the lips. I am a believer in using light therapy on the lips. You could do a separate protocol and place the diodes or any light therapy device you own directly on the lips for healing. I have used blue/red light for this in the past with great results.

Cleaning & Maintenance
Wipe the lens cover after every use. I like to use a microfiber towel with water or preferably distilled/filtered water to wipe off gunk. Followed by a lens wipe. I am in the process of searching for a more affordable and less chemical way of cleaning face masks. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. If you use just regular water, your diodes will be cloudy and you will get less photons. That’s bad. You want the photons. Photons good!
Please let me know if you have any questions =)
